Allouez Beautification Committee Flower Fund Drive

Summer has indeed arrived in the village when the many pots and flower beds along Webster Avenue and Riverside Drive bloom with color. Each year, the Allouez Beautification Committee, a non-profit, all-volunteer group, helps the village come alive with its signature display of flowers.

ABC depends on donations from local residents and businesses to cover the cost of these beautiful flowers. Donations can be made online at www.allouezbeautification.org or by sending a check payable to ABC to: Allouez Beautification Committee, c/o U.S. Bank, 1950 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301. Any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated.

Individual pots can also be sponsored for $100 each. It’s a wonderful way to honor a loved one or show your pride in the community. Sponsored pots are recognized with special name plates throughout the season. Contact Leslie Prange by July 1 at (920) 435-8903.

ABC is always looking for people to join its Weed Team, the small army of dedicated volunteers who keep all those pots and beds looking their best all summer. If you can lend a hand, contact Audrey Zigmund at (920) 336-0173.

Enjoy the flowers, Allouez! We thank you for your many years of support.

Park Reminders

As the weather continues to warm up we expect more and more people out in our parks. Here a few reminders to help keep everyone safe and our Village parks looking great:

1.) Pets in Parks

The Village Board recently revised the Village Code of Ordinances to allow all domestic pets in village parks and trails while on leash at all times.  Per the ordinance, pets are still not allowed in park buildings, in playgrounds, on sport fields, or in picnic areas.  We would like to also remind all pet owners and custodians to clean up and properly dispose of all pet waste immediately from all park grounds and trails.

2.) No Smoking in Parks

The Allouez Village Board of Trustees has recently approved a village ordinance prohibiting smoking and electronic smoking devices in all village parks and trails.

ORDINANCE 2016-09, SECTION 31.41, SMOKING PROHIBITED WITHIN AND UPON ALL VILLAGE PARKLANDS AND TRAILS

The purpose for the creation of this ordinance is to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the public as well as reduce littering upon public grounds.
