Community Garden

Do you enjoy outdoor gardening during the spring and summer months but just don't have a place to grow your favorite vegetables and fruits? We are excited to announce a partnership between the Village of Allouez and Langlade Elementary that will allow community members to reserve a free plot of gardening space. The community garden plots will be approximately 15 x 15 feet in size. All we ask is that about half of the food grown will be donated to a local food pantry or other charitable organization of your choice. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to benefit in some way. To sign up, please email (preferred) or call Cheryl Daniels-Fisk.

Get Outside and Enjoy the Winter

The Village of Allouez Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department would like to invite you to check out some winter recreational activities that we have to offer here in Allouez.  The ice skating rink at Green Isle Park, 2500 Greene Avenue, is open and available for ice skating.  The warming shelter and restrooms are open from 3 to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 1 to 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.  Skaters may use the rink at other times during open park hours as well.

The sledding hill at PH Martin Webster Park, 2111 Jourdain Lane, is also open.  The hill is located between the old shelter building and the tennis courts, is unsupervised, open to all, and free. Sledding opportunities are during daylight hours only and as long as there is snow on the hill.  Although sledding is fun, due to its nature sledding is at your own risk and the Village of Allouez assumes no liability for possible injuries or damage to equipment.

We would also like to encourage winter enthusiasts to check out the groomed cross country ski trails along the Resch Family East River Trail.  The Department has groomed several trails and loops from Green Isle Park to Wiese Park.  We are hoping to maintain the groomed trails this winter as long as we have adequate snow pack to accommodate the grooming equipment.  For other users of the trail and parks, please respect the groomed trails and use proper winter trail etiquette.  Please do not walk in the ski tracks as boot holes and dog footprints ruin the trail for skiing.  Walk and snowshoe on the walking trail or next to the ski trail.  Also, for the pet owners, please remember to pick up after your pet and dispose to the feces properly.

And finally, for those that still want to walk, run, and bike during the winter, our trails are still open.  There are three trails in the Village that are plowed for recreational purposes.  There is a plowed trail loop in Green Isle Park from the park entrance area to the tennis courts.  In addition the new Allouez Trail Connection along Highway 172 from Webster Avenue to the Fox River Trail is open.  And lastly, the Fox River Trail from Green Bay through Allouez and DePere is open.  Please remember that snow and ice may be present on these recreational trails and trail users assume some risk of use due to the nature of snow and ice surfaces being slippery.

Remember to have fun and please send us your pictures enjoying the wonderful Allouez parks this winter!
