The Village of Allouez is excited to announce that it has come to an
agreement with Brown County to remove the snow from the Fox River State
Recreational Trail within the village boundaries beginning this winter. "This
is a very exciting announcement for winter outdoor enthusiasts in Allouez and
Green Bay. Based on the input from
Allouez residents at community listening sessions, the village board and staff
have worked over the last year with county and state officials to make this
happen. We look forward to keeping this
great trail open for year round enjoyment." said Chris Clark, Director
of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry for the Village of Allouez.
The trail will be open for recreational purposes such as walking,
jogging, and bicycling during normal open hours. A state trail pass is required for all people
age 16 or older, who enjoy the Fox River Trail for biking, horseback riding,
and in-line skating. A state trail pass is not required for walking, jogging or
hiking. Trail users should be aware that surface irregularities and slippery
conditions may exist during the winter due to the presence of some snow and
ice.
In addition, the Allouez Trail Connection trail between Heritage Hill State Park and Highway 172 west of Webster Avenue will be open during the winter. For those outdoor winter recreation enthusiasts that prefer cross country skiing or snow shoeing, check out the Resch Family East River Trail between Green Isle Park and Wiese Park, weather permitting.
