2019 Youth Enrichment Summer Camps


Village of Allouez is happy to announce new youth enrichment programs to be offered this summer.
With the help of the Youth Enrichment League and Village of Bellevue, the Village of Allouez will offer 5 unique youth summer camps:


Y.E.L.: EXTREME MOBILE ELECTRONIX
Ages 7-12
Create a mobile juggernaut equipped with disc shooter, sirens, flashing lights and voice recorder. Make and take home your very own electric vehicle. In this Youth Enrichment League {YEL!} electronics class, students will build 20-30 projects over the course of the session and use those projects to explore basic aspects of electricity, including measuring ohms, amps, voltage, open and closed circuits and more. Safety is our first rule. We will only use DC current (batteries). No AC current (electric outlets) will be used. We put the AMP into summer camp! Fee includes $20 for materials.

Y.E.L.:PROJECT RUNWAY
 
Entering Grades 4-8
New summer projects! A swimsuit coverup, mini messenger bag, ear bud case and your personalized sewer’s handbook. In this Youth Enrichment League (YEL) summer camp, students will learn the basics of hand sewing, machine sewing as well as measuring, pinning and cutting patterns. No experience necessary. Y.E.L.: JUNIOR CODING AND VIDEO GAMES WITH SCRATCH®
Ages 7-12
STEM Video Game Enrichment for the 21st Century learner. Each {YEL!} Coding class follows four basic components: •Teach It! Students learn different video game and storytelling design techniques (movement blocks, control blocks, basic animation, adding scores, etc.) •Code It!…Students use Scratch® to code their own story and video games. •Explore It!…Students can write their own story and video game code, experiment with it and test new options. Our collaborative learning environment encourages students to learn from each other. •Keep It!…Students keep their stories and video games online with Scratch® and can access it and expand upon it at anytime.
*Scratch® is an MIT created and monitored, kid-safe web interface. It uses a drag and drop programming interface to teach students of all levels coding practices. Your child will receive a Scratch® user name and password so they can access their projects from any computer at anytime. Scratch® is not affiliated with {YEL!} nor does it endorse this program.
