In coordination with the Brown County Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration the Village of Allouez will be accepting all unwanted prescriptions and over the counter medications for proper disposal.

For this trip you are once again leaving all the planning and organizing to us, but you don't know where you are going, what you will be doing or what's for lunch. But, that's fine, because we have all the plans in place!  Trust us; you are going to have a great time!

INVASIVE PHRAGMITES LANDOWNER WORKSHOP

Event to be held at: Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary - Auditorium (upstairs) 1660 East Shore Drive Green Bay, WI 54302

Would you like to know more about what you can do to control non-native Phragmites on your property or along your shoreline?  Area conservation professionals will discuss the challenges of managing invasive plants, Phragmites management options and resources for landowners, and provide an update about GLRI grant-funded Phragmites control plans for the east shore of Green Bay and the lower Fox River.  Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the demonstration area (behind Bay Beach Amusement Park) where Phragmites was treated with herbicide last fall and mowed over winter.

Pets in Allouez Parks

The Village of Allouez Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department would like to remind all residents in Allouez of the rules and responsibilities of pet ownership.

Per Village Code 6.06 dogs and cats are not allowed within a village park or other village managed properties regardless if the pet is on or off leash.  There is one exception in the ordinance that allows dogs on the Resch Family East River Trail (and connection trails) as long as they are on the proper leash.  All pets that are not on the owner’s property must also be under the control of the owner or custodian and on a leash not more than six feet in length.

It is also the responsibility of the pet owner or custodian to immediately clean up all waste or defecation and properly dispose of it.   The person walking the pet shall have in their possession equipment or bags to properly clean up all waste generated by the animal.  Failure of a person to abide by these ordinances could result in a fine, loss of driver’s license, and /or jail time.

In general we are reminding pet owners to control and clean up after your animal because it is not only the right thing to do, but it is also the law.  For more information about animals within the Village of Allouez please read Chapter 6 of the Allouez Code of Ordinances on the Village website at www.villageofallouez.com/government/codes-policies

Request an Absentee Ballot

Under Wisconsin law, voters do not need a reason or excuse, such as being out of town on Election Day, to vote absentee.  Any voter who prefers to vote by absentee ballot may request one.  You have several options for requesting an absentee ballot and casting your vote. 

Request an Absentee Ballot by Mail

If you are a registered Allouez voter, you can complete an Application For Absentee Ballot (GAB-121) and along with a copy of proof of identification, mail it to:  Village of Allouez Clerk, 1900 Libal Street, Green Bay, WI   54301.  Your application must be received by the clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be SENT to you.  

If you are not already registered, you will need to register to vote before an absentee ballot can be sent to you (registration application / proof of residence is required).

Request an Absentee Ballot by E-Mail or Fax

Allouez voters may also request that a ballot be sent to them by sending an e-mail (debbie@villageofallouez.com) or fax (920-448-2850) to their municipal clerk. This request must be made no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be SENT to you. 

Options and Deadlines for Returning Your Absentee Ballot

• U.S. Postal Service: Your completed absentee ballot must be postmarked no later than Election Day and received by the municipal clerk no later than 4 p.m. on the Friday after the election.
• Other delivery (FedEx, hand-delivery, etc.): Your completed absentee ballot must be delivered to the municipal clerk no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day
  In-Person Absentee Voting at your Municipal Clerk's Office (Early Voting)
  You can also vote absentee at the Allouez clerk's office, 1900 Libal Street.  In-person absentee voting (also known as early voting) is available weekdays, March 21 to April 1.   
  Remember, you can only vote once!
  Please note:  In 2011 the Legislature passed Act 227, which prohibits a voter who has returned a completed absentee ballot from voting at the polling place on Election Day. Previously, voters who cast an absentee ballot and changed their minds could go to the polling place and vote on Election Day, and their absentee ballot would not be counted. This is no longer an option.
